Promoting Literacy in Lawrence and Randolph Counties

“Soar Into Reading with Williams Baptist Teacher Education Program”

The Williams Teacher Education Program (WTEP) received a book donation of approximately 10,000 children’s books from Scholastic in February of 2000.  Teacher candidates sorted and bagged books for giveaway to children in Randolph and Lawrence County.  To date books have been distributed at the Lawrence County Health Unit, the Lawrence Memorial Hospital, the Randolph County CO-MEND’s Family Fun Fair 2000, and the Arkansas Department of Health.  In addition, teacher candidates in the Introduction to the Exceptional Child class gave books to children in resource classrooms in many public schools.  Book giveaway efforts are on going

The Williams Teacher Education Program is a department of Williams Baptist College
