PDST PLACEMENT

            Each teacher candidate shall complete a Declaration of Student Teaching form and submit it to the Education Office.  On this form, a place has been provided for the candidate to select his/her top three choices of schools.  The candidate will be placed in the same school for both pre-directed and directed student teaching.  Every effort will be made to accommodate the candidate’s first choice, but there are no guarantees.

Information Sheet

Each teacher candidate shall also complete an information sheet and submit it to the Education Office.  A current photograph must accompany this sheet.  A candidate may arrange to have his/her picture taken in the Education Office.  A one-page autobiography must also be included.  The information sheet, complete with picture and autobiography, will be sent to the cooperating teacher(s) before the candidate begins pre-directed student teaching.

The forms for the declaration of student teaching and information sheet are located on the WBC network, accessible in the WBC computer lab, or the Education Office.  Find them under: My Computer, Z drive, Public, Educate, Directed.

Insurance

            A teacher candidate must have personal liability insurance before entering a school campus.  The Education Office has forms for joining either the SAEA or the Christian Educators Association.  Each of these organizations provides the insurance to their members.  A teacher candidate may obtain other insurance but it is the teacher candidate’s responsibility to provide proof of coverage to the Education Office.  The insurance lasts an academic year.  A nametag is provided through the SAEA insurance, but not through the Christian Educators Association, so if you chose to purchase the Christian Educators Association insurance, you will need to contact the Education office about purchasing a nametag.
