A résumé is a one or two page document giving a summary of education, work
experience, skills and professional and personal accomplishments. This document should
present your accomplishments in such a way that they will interest the employer enough to
want to meet with you personally.
- Contact information includes your name and one address, phone number and e-mail
- Objective concisely describes what kind of job you are seeking
- Education includes degree, institution, location of institution, G.P.A.(if > 3.0),
and date of graduation
- Experience arranged in reverse chronological order with the most recent dates first
- Honors, awards, foreign languages, research projects, publications
- Computer Skills includes the sofware packages that you are able to use. For example:
Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, and Excel

- Your résumé should have a visual appeal that is inviting to read.
- Proof your résumé to ensure there are no spelling, typographical, or grammatical
errors.
- Choose a good quality bond paper in a conservative color such as white, ivory, or light
gray.
- Use horizontal or vertical margins, capitalization, underlining, bold type and spacing
to make your résumé easy to read and emphasize the important points.
- Limit your résumé to one or two pages, which is the standard length of this document.
