Arkansas Business Publishing Group Internship Offers Students A Chance at $1, 500.

The state’s largest niche publishing company is giving Arkansas college students a shot at the ultimate sales, reporting, marketing, design and database management internship and $ 1,500 in prize money.

This summer begins the eighth year of its popular internship “The Publisher: The Ultimate Internship,”  a nine-week program in which six Arkansas college students studying all corners of the publishing world will work side-by-side with publishing professionals in their respective fields.

At the end of the program, the students will present their team project to the ABPG staff.  Based on the presentation and other criteria, ABPG will choose two students who will win cash bonuses of $1,000 and $500 respectively.

To apply, students can visit ArkansasBusiness.com/publisher/ or stop by the Billie Harty Counseling Center here on Williams campus.  The internship begins May 29 with a one-week break from July 2-6.  The internship resumes on July 9 and ends August 3.  Students will work 40 hours per week and receive payment for the internship.  The paid intern positions include writing/reporting, photography, customer service/database management, graphic design, advertising sales, and marketing.

The students will receive valuable hands-on training by working with our professional staff in their designated areas.  They also will develop team work and project management skills and have the opportunity to work on many of ABPG’s more than 20 print publications.

“In addition to allowing students to gain real-world experience in their respective fields, this paid internship will show them other sides of the publishing industry they might not know about,” said Jeff Hanks, ABPG president and publisher.  “At the same time, the program will be great fun.  We expect to have a creative atmosphere where students can learn, share ideas and see what this business is all about.”

Arkansas Business Publishing Group publishes Arkansas Business newspaper, ArkansasBusiness.com, Little Rock Soiree, Little Rock Family magazine and more than 20 other newspapers, magazines and Web sites.  It has more than 70 employees as its headquarters in Little Rock’s River Market District.
